11:15: Double E Ranch. 2.5 mi @ 1.5 hrs; gain: 843 ft; max el: 5,400 ft.
The daylight savings change made me lazy. Because of that, I asked the owners of this ranch if I could climb the giant hill behind the property. I wish I would have asked sooner! It was a fun, but challenging hike – average grade was over 15%. Great views and so close!
I lost my lens cap on the way up. Same lens that lost its hood a few days ago. Bummed, but then I thought that this would be a good excuse to replace my least favorite lens.
Found the cap on the way back down and reconsidered replacing the lens. So what if it’s a borderline kit lens, it’s the composition that matters, right? So it goes.
Besides the hill, there’s also a creek that runs behind the property. According to the owners, it’s a pretty hike along the creek. And, it’s getting close to mating season for turkeys, so, according to Debbie, there’s a good chance that I’ll see some toms dancing along that trail.
