8:00: Little Dry Creek Trail (#180#). Look: a trailhead! Had to cross a number of creek beds (all dry) to get here.
10:00: Little Dry Creek Trail (#180#). 2.6 mi @ 1.5 hrs; gain: ~300 ft; max el: 6568 ft.
Nice little hike. Didn’t go as far as I wanted, but I need to do some work. Started the hike at a balmy 28 deg F, ended at 65 deg, so quite a swing.
Crossed the Little Dry creek a few times. No wildlife spotted (they must not have liked my singing).
Lessons learned:
- leave the lens hood at home. I lost it somewhere. Maybe I’ll find it if I come back for a longer hike
- get a better camera strap. Carrying the camera bandolier style is the most comfortable / convenient, but the length of the current strap makes taking shots a bit awkward.
Didn’t see any mining remnants, but I see the POIs on the GPS now. I’ll have to make a point of seeking them out if I come back.
